About Our System
Pipe Eye Video has access to a fiber optic system that is capable of traveling two kilometres. This system has been designed and developed by Inuktun Services Ltd. It consists of a Pan, Tilt and Zoom camera and two sets of four miniature cat-like tracks.
Alternatively, the system can be floated on miniature pontoons.
In 2003, Pipe Eye Video used the system to inspect a six foot gravity sanitary sewer trunk line that ran along the low tide line to a lift station. Because of the amount of flow and the uncleaned pipe, we decided to float the system.
We designed a four foot set of aluminum pontoons (see photo gallery) able to carry the camera and lights through the underground system and floated the line. We were able to inspect the pipe condition easily with the Pan and Tilt high-powered zoom camera.
The inspection took 22 hours in total to complete! Yahoo!! The total run was 19,924 metres!!
